RE: Dark Patio

The rollemup may be the ticket! I would just have to remove the mechanics of the automatic awning one time to expose the channel, install the rollemups, and be set for lights every time I opened the awning.

Dark Patio

Just wondering how any individuals that own an automatic awning put patio lights on them. My Seneca 35GS has an automatic awning that is sealed on both ends by the mechanism used to roll it up and down. I have no access to the awning channel that I used on manual awnings in the past. The Senica has only one exterior light on the awning side located between the entry door and and a slide out. When slide is extended, the light is useless except for illuminating the entry steps and the side of the slide. So far my only solution is to lay some rope lights out on the ground, and I am not pleased with that. I seriously miss my lights!

RE: stangest object at a campsite

One of the strangest things I ever saw was while camping in our local state park (Fountainbleau State Park, Covington LA) was a huge Prevost motor home that had two HEPA Air Purifiers running under their patio. Ahhh the great outdoors!

Seneca 12v Fuse Location

On a recent trip my 2006 Seneca 12v sockets lost power disabling my Sirius radio and GPS. I have checked the fuse bank under the hood on the Chev C5500 and see no blown fuses. Am I missing a different fuse location for these sockets?

2008 Wrangler question

I am looking to tow my 08' JK Wrangler behind my motor home and I have a couple of questions. The owners manual stated to remove the negative battery terminal I assume so the battery will not drain while towing. On a different forum I saw that an individual removed his IOD fuse in lieu of removing the battery cable. When flat towing you can pull the IOD fuse versus disconnecting the battery. When flat towing, even though the ignition key is turned to position #1 which energizes some of the JK's circuits, you will not have draining of the battery over time. The IOD fuse is easy to pull and to plug back in. JEEP even has a built in fuse disengager on that one fuse. You will see it in the distribution box in the engine compartment. Only fuse with a white plastic gizmo on it. So my first question is why must the key be left on? It does not appear that my 08' JK has a steering wheel lock, why must the key be left on? Next question is, despite the manual stating to remove the battery cable, is removing the IOD fuse I truly viable option?

RE: Norcold fault codes

Well, after attempting to use the service manual to diagnose my fault problem and still not being able to enter the mode required to do so, it looked as though the problem could be that the mode select button may be stuck. The solution found was, as my buddy who works at the power plant calls it, to perform an operator adjustment to the button. So I preceded to firmly smack the button with my knuckle. The fridge now appears to be working properly. I will still note the malfunction on my to do list when I put the coach in for service. I am not sure if the problem was, as the last couple of posters indicated, an optical control overlay causing my problem or if I even performed my operator adjustment to the overlay but it sounds like it may be.

RE: Norcold fault codes

I have read both the owners manual and the service manual and there is no indication what the possible fault could be when the display cycles from Auto to AC to LP repeatedly. Anyone else?

Norcold fault codes

My 06' Jayco Seneca motorhome has a Norcold refrigerator, not sure of the model number, and I have a question. During last weekends campout my Norcold began a display cycle that is not in my owners manual fault code index. The unit has a small bar light that displays next to the mode selected, Auto, AC, LP Gas. To date I have only had the mode set to Auto, but this weekend the display would continuously change from Auto to AC and then LP over and over again. When the temp set button was pressed the display would cycle from 1 up to 9 and then start over again. The unit was cold when we started the weekend (left on since prior trip two weeks ago) and remained cold the entire trip. Any ideas? The manual has no indication of a fault code displayed in such a manor.

RE: Towing 2008 Jeep Wrangler JK

After a little more research I think I have found the difference between the two brackets. I believe the difference is that the MX is for motorhome mounted tow bars. Since I will be using a motor home mounted Falcon 2, I think the MX should be my selection. Any input?

Towing 2008 Jeep Wrangler JK

I am preparing to order the parts to tow my new 08 4D Jeep wrangler behind my motor home. I have identified at least that prefer to use a Raodmaster bar and am searching for an appropriate mounting bracket base plate to attach to the Jeep that will be the least visible when not towing. Roadmaster shows two versions for my stock bumper JK without elect. front sway bar disconnect, an MX model #1428-3 and an XL model #1428-1. Both have the same price and looking at the online install directions they are both identical installs. Can anyone provide any input to help with my decision?

RE: Sirius install in Seneca

Johninaz - The antenna is not attached to the hood at all, it is under the hood attached to a metal bracket above the radiator face up to the sky. The signal penetrates the hood material (fiberglass?) and no slack is required for the wire to accommodate the hood as the antenna is not attached to the hood.

Sirius install in Seneca

A couple of weeks ago I posted that I was looking for a way to install a Sirius radio antenna on my Seneca and I solved my problem today. The problem was that there a no metallic surfaces short of the bumper to mount the magnetic antenna on and I had a hard time with drilling into my roof and routing the wire to my dash mounted radio. Also on recent trips with the antenna just sitting on the dash I would have intermittent signal at best with the cab over design of the C. I decided to try mounting the antenna under the hood, after all it works on my Jeep with hard top (mounted to roll bar)and I was determined to find a solution. It works perfectly! the hood does not interfere with the signal at all. Just find something metal under the hood and attach the magnetic antenna to and run the wire through the firewall and there you go. Now if I could only figure out a way to get the broadcast signal from the Sirius radio to the exterior entertainment radio my life would be complete.

Seneca BBQ

Does anyone use the BBQ that came with the Seneca. I assume they all come with one... I have not even opened the box to see what it looks like, but I have concerns about attaching the grill to the side of the camper for fear of heat damage to the exterior of the RV as well as possible damage to the awning above. I know Jayco intended for the grill to be attached to the side of the RV but I would be more comfortable if some of y'all said you do it all the time.

Replace Seneca stereo head unit.

Has anyone replaced the crappy Seneca stereo head with an aftermarket head unit? I am having issues with the stereo in the Seneca, such as extreme difficulty turning the unit on and off. Hit the power button and the thing will not even turn on or off without multiple attempts, sometimes when on hitting the power button it changes functions from CD, to radio, etc. Pain in the but!! I would like to install an aftermarket head and was wondering if anyone could recommend the appropriate wiring harness for an easy installation. I have installed many stereos in my day and the harness is what makes the install work the easiest.

Sirius added to Seneca

I would like to add Sirius to my 06' Seneca, I already have a Sirius account. I have tried using my Sirius S50 radio from my truck simply by placing the antenna on the dash and it works OK depending on my direction of travel (cab overhang causing problems). It broadcast fine to the cab radio (antenna on fender) but has no shot at broadcasting to the exterior radio (antenna on roof). Has anyone added Sirius to their Seneca? Since the cab radio appears to be "Sirius ready" what hardware did you purchase? Is there a Sirius antenna already on the Seneca? Can a single service work with both interior and exterior radio?

Seneca Satellite TV connection

Purchased a new to me 2006 Jayco Seneca and I am confused by the main television connections. As you can see in the photo I have 4 cable jacks on two separate wall plates behind the TV, the top plate has two jacks with the top reading satellite and the bottom connected for roof antenna and has the booster on it. The current connection as shown is utilizing the bottom jack for roof antenna has a single cable coming out feeding a splitter. From the splitter, one cable apparently connects directly to the front TV and the other enters the lower wall plate that I assume feeds the rear TV. My question is..... what does the fourth jack on the bottom second wall plate service? Why is it there? Exterior TV connection? http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z188/scott9413/2-1-2008055.jpg height=480 width=640 I can assume to connect an external satellite dish I should connect the cable from the top jack on the top plate to the satellite box and then the out from the cable box to the splitter so it will feed both front and rear TVs. Yes / No?

Rear TV sound

I have a new to me 2006 Jayco Seneca Super C motor home. When using the home theater system (front of the RV)to play DVDs for viewing on my bedroom TV I have only limited sound. The TV plays only background sounds with no voices, as if it is missing the center channel from the theater system. Can anyone give me a starting point to correct the problem?
